Release Event Meant for Her

Title: Meant For Her

By: Raine Thomas

Release: October 17, 2013

Published by Iambe Books, LLC

Photographer Sierra Stratton views the world through a lens all her own. She has an uncanny sense about people, something that often causes her trouble. When she meets the
sexy and brooding Evan Dorsey, her intuition tells her he’s suffering, and she
wants to be the one to help him.

Evan isn’t open to help from anyone, however. His focus is on his Major League career
and making himself as marketable as possible for his upcoming free agency. He
plans to ride out the season in Atlanta and then sign with another team, away
from the painful memories that haunt him.

Someone’s eager to send him on his way, too. Between anonymous threats and equipment
sabotage, it’s clear he’s earned himself an enemy along the way. To him, it’s
one more sign that he’s right to move on.

But Sierra threatens his conviction. Her contagious smile proves hard to resist, as
does her kiss. She tempts him in ways he never anticipated, making him question
his plans for the first time. If he’s not careful, she might just convince him that he’s meant for her.

Excerpt

She saw one of the building’s employees, Oliver Werner, sitting behind the counter
and crossed the lobby to greet him. He got to his feet, towering over her by
more than a foot.
“Hi, Oliver.”

“Hi there, Ms. Sierra. Nice to see you.”

She winked at him. “This is Evan Dorsey. He’s checking out 4-B.”
“Is that right?” Oliver held out his hand and Evan shook it. “Pleasure to meet you,
Mr. Dorsey. Can’t find a better place to live in this city, I assure you. We’ll take real good care of you here.”

“I like what I see so far,” Evan said.

Sierra wondered if it was a coincidence that his dark blue eyes shifted to her after he
said that. In either case, her pulse quickened.

What harm could there be in fantasizing about a compliment from a hot ballplayer? It
was healthy, really.

“Thanks, Oliver. We’ll be down in a bit.”
They headed to the elevator. She punched a code into the keypad to the right of the
doors. As they closed, she looked at Evan to explain what she’d done. He was
staring at her. She expected him to look away when she caught him.

He didn’t.

“When you’ve signed the lease, you’ll get your own code,” she said.

When I sign it?”

She smiled. He might not have made up his mind about moving in just yet, but she
already knew how this was going to end.

“There are four apartments each on floors two and three,” she continued as though she
hadn’t heard him, “and two larger apartments on four. Only the tenants on each
floor can access their floor.”

“Unless they give the code out to everyone they know.”

“Sure. We do change the codes regularly to try and prevent issues, and ask tenants to
let us know if there’s any reason they need their personal codes changed. As
with most secure buildings shared by multiple tenants, nothing is guaranteed.”

The elevator stopped and the doors opened up into a long hallway with hardwood
floors and a vibrant carpet runner. Two large windows along the left side of the
hall allowed sunlight to flood in. A few framed black and white photographs of
some of the more interesting architectural elements of the complex hung along
the right wall. The door to 4-B was straight ahead at the end of the hallway.
Halfway there, they passed the door to 4-A on the left.

“Who lives in that apartment?” Evan asked.

She paused as she reached the door to 4-B. “Aunt Caroline didn’t tell you?”

“No.”

“Oh.”

She turned and unlocked the door to 4-B. They walked in, neither of them mentioning
that she hadn’t answered his question. She started talking as she moved from
room to room, figuring he was listening even if he wasn’t following her.

“As you can see, this apartment has lots of character and natural light. It’s over
seventeen hundred square feet and has two large bedrooms, two full baths.
Separate laundry. The kitchen has been completely updated with granite and
stainless steel. Natural hardwood floors throughout. Neutral paint on the walls,
but you’re welcome to change it once you move in. There are two real brick walls
and exposed ductwork to enhance the loft feel. It’s a very open floorplan with—”

She turned and almost collided with Evan’s chest. Apparently, he had been
following her.

“You’re in 4-A, aren’t you?” he asked.

She smiled.

“I’ll take it,” he said.

Author’s Take on Sierra Stratton

Sierra Stratton was an unnamed character in my first New Adult romance, For Everly. She was a second photographer in what has now become a well-known photo shoot scene in that story.I didn’t know I would be writing her story until after For Everly was released, but once Sierra started talking to me, I couldn’t rest until I had it written.Upon first glance, it might appear that Sierra is a character without any flaws, but that’s not the case. She’s a “people pleaser” who doesn’t like to see anyone struggling or in pain. This desire to be nice to others whom she feels need help doesn’t always work in her favor, though, and it actually drives her friends and family crazy. She’s just as likely to get herself into trouble as she is saving others.
That doesn’t mean that she’s not strong and independent. On the contrary, Sierra has built a thriving photography career for herself at a young age, and her family relies on her for aspects of their own businesses. She’s also dedicated when it comes to supporting those she loves. Once she sets her mind on something, it’s nearly impossible to divert her from her
course.

At five-feet, six inches tall, Sierra packs a lot of energy into a slender frame. Her sunny blonde hair is often streaked with color, and between that, her diamond nose stud, and some select tattoos, she truly looks like the creative young artist that she is. What captures Evan’s attention the most, though, are her dimples. Since she’s a generally happy person, he gets to enjoy the sight of them a lot!

Author’s Take on the Leading Male: Evan DorseyLink to see the pic

Evan Dorsey is a sexy, brooding male with a checkered past. After writing For Everly, which features a more stable, gentlemanly male lead, I wanted to write about an enigmatic guy with a dark edge to him. Early readers of Meant for Her have told me that there were times in the story where they wanted to hit Evan, and other times that he made them positively swoon. Fortunately, that’s just how I wanted him to come across.
As a professional baseball player, Evan enjoys living a rootless existence.  The one person he had tying him to a location dies tragically just two months before the beginning of Meant for Her, and he’s determined not to get so invested in a person or place again. His resistance to forming attachments sometimes makes him treat others in ways intended to drive them away, a form of self-sabotage.
Once an attachment does form, however, Evan is fiercely loyal and protective of his friends. He’s not afraid to get physical if it means defending someone he cares about or protecting someone who’s being bullied. There’s a tenderness beneath his gruff exterior that surprises even him on occasion.

Physically, Evan is a sublime specimen. He works out daily and takes care of himself, wanting to remain in prime athletic condition. He bears a variety of tattoos on his chest, back, and arms, all of them having meaning to him. His short, dark hair and intense blue eyes combined with his Australian accent and shiny black Harley-Davidson all serve to make him one irresistible rascal.

Author’s Favorite Quotes from Meant for Her

“How’d you get up here?” Evan asked, trying to keep Miller and Beck from flying out
into the hallway.

Cole grinned. “I happen to know the property manager really well. She’s seen me in my
underwear doing naughty things.”

“I’ll ask for your check,” Sierra said. “No worries.”

“Ooo,” Hannah giggled. “If you could get your new neighbor to say, ‘No worries, mate,’
that would be fan-freaking-tastic.”

Poking Hannah in the side, Zoe said, “How cliché. Next you’re going to want him to grill another shrimp on the barbie.”

“Only if he says it before he does.”

“Just so you know,” he said, “I’m officially offering my services in case you need
help getting yourself back to rights.”

“Are you? That’s very neighborly of you.”

“I think I’m starting to get the hang of this neighborly thing.”

“It would seem so. Sadly, since your suggestion would lead to at least one entire
day of hot sex and you have company coming, I’ll have to take a rain check.”

“I’ve cancelled on Cole before. I think he’s getting used to it.”

“Alas, I can’t afford the sex-a-thon distraction today with the big shoot to prep for.
You’ll have to work on your timing, neighbor.”

“Damn. Well, can’t say I didn’t try.”

Shaking his head, he walked into the empty guestroom and opened the cabinet door. Sure
enough, two blue eyes surrounded by a dark mask of fur stared back at him.

“You’re lucky you resemble Batman in his Batcave,” Evan said, reaching in, pulling him
out by his scruff, and holding him at eye level. “It’s saving you from an epic ass-whooping right now.”

Miller licked his cheek.

“I’m serious,” Evan said as he walked to the cage. “You may think I’m soft on you
because you’re smart enough to hide under the sink, but—ah, hell. I’m so damn
proud right now.”

Thirty seconds later, his cell buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out and saw that he
had a text from Sierra.

Welcome home, Evan.

Blinking, his gaze moved to the wall separating his kitchen from her bedroom. He looked at
the doorway where Geoff had just departed, then back at the wall.

Shaking his head and grinning, he typed, Faked a date, did you?
IDK what you mean.I’m in the dark with a hot guy who’s panting
all over me.

Leo doesn’t count.

Then I faked a date.
Bad girl. Come on over if you’re up to it

Jayna and Ethan are together every night, but they are still forbidden to see each other on the Earth plane. One morning, Jayna and Liam do
not wake up from their state of suspended animation. Their family is frightened out of their wits and hold vigil by their beds. With a lot of help from Hope and guidance from the other side, the siblings finally awake. Something major has happened on the Astral plane and Jayna is not telling them the whole story, but there is no denying the sense of danger. Their almost perfect lives are about to unravel.

Excerpt:

Cassie screamed with pain.
“How does it feel to be on the receiving end of pain, Dr. Jewel?”
“How do you know my name,” the Shadow woman asked squirming on the floor.
“I know a lot of things about you, and none of it is good. Did you feel
real powerful when you had helpless people kidnapped?”
There was shock on Cassie’s grey face.
“Yeah, I know all about it.

You had three innocent people killed to get your dirty hands on that gold. You are scum Cassandra Jewel.” Jayna grabbed Cassie from the floor and threw her against the wall.
Cassie cowered.
“Were you planning to go to their funeral,” Jayna asked, “and pretend you were their friend? Maybe shed a few tears?” Jayna threw a powerful punch into Cassie’s solar plexus.

Cassie doubled over with pain, coughing.
“Stop it,” Cassie whispered hoarsely.
“Why should I? Tell me one good reason I should not kill you?”
Cassie coughed, still trying to catch her breath.
Jayna, that’s enough. Ethan warned her.

Weare not here to kill anyone.
That’s what the bitch deserves.
Jayna turned around and saw a new stack of gold plates on the dining room table. “I see, you brought more gold from the Underworld,” she said to Cassie.
She walked up to the table and scooped up the plates in her arms.

They were about ten pounds. Awesome! We’ll make a few more miracles with these.
Cassie screamed with rage again. “Put those back. You can’t have them. They are mine.”
“Not on your life,” Jayna said and walked through the wall.

Ethan and Colin followed her; they didn’t want to lose sight of Jayna for a second, in case the demon came back.

The Astral Ordinance (The Astral Ordinance, #1)The Astral Ordinance by Meltem Y.K.

Excerpts #1

I sit on the small grassy patch next to his grave, unaware of how I arrived here, why I’m
here, or even how long I will remain. So much has changed in my life over the last year. First,
I lost my mortal husband, Joe. Shortly thereafter, a Nephilim warrior named Eli swooped in
like a whirlwind, turning my life inside out. I rub my hand across the smooth granite
headstone, stopping to trace his name with my fingers. Joseph Adam Wilkins Born October
16, 1974 Died August 10, 2011. It was raining the day of his funeral as if the heavens grieved
over his passing. I smile, remembering the life we shared, a time when I was oblivious
regarding the supernatural world, believing I was merely human, and not the last female
warrior of the Nephilim race. It is strange how life unfolds, nothing is predictable when it
involves me, a fact I am learning to accept.
I lift my head and look around the cemetery. It looks different from how I remembered
it. My internal alarm blares loudly inside my head. I have learned to trust my instinctive
warnings. I scan the area, assessing the perimeters for threats. I hear rustling in the nearby
trees behind me. I turn to investigate; my vision is superb so I am puzzled why I can’t make
out the face of the shadowy figure in the trees. My hand, still resting on the headstone,
suddenly feels damp and slippery. I lift my hand to my face; blood covers it, but whose blood?

Author Interview with K.A. Young-Write Away Bliss-

Can you tell us a little about the series?
Sure, the series begins many years after a great war between the Nephilim and yetzer hara
(Red eyed, rotting flesh creatures that are the embodiment of evil). The Nephilim were forced
to hide the children during the war in order to protect them and hide the identity of the last
living female warrior of the race. The series is an exhilarating and sexy adventure into their
world and beyond.

Who is your favorite character in the Nephilim Warrior Series?
I would have to say it is a toss up between Elise and Torch. Both are uniquely wonderful in
very different ways. Who do you most identify with? I identify a little with each of my
characters in one way or another.

If readers love The Fever Series and the Immortal’s After Dark, they’ll love your book.

Do you have a favorite time of day to write?
I don’t have a favorite time of day to write. I write anytime and every chance I get.

What are your plans for after the Nephilim Warrior Series?
I’m currently working on the spin off of the Nephilim Warrior Series. Coven (The Elise
Michaels Series, #1) is due to release on October 4th with book 2 to follow shortly.

Excerpt

"I’m still having the dreams." I sighed and smoothed out my high ponytail as I stared at the large
floor plant in the corner of the office to avoid Dr. Weismann’s scrutinizing gaze. I could hear
him rocking back in his large office chair, something he always did as he waited for me to
continue, but this time I wasn’t planning to divulge anything further. I scrounged up the courage
to make eye contact with my psychiatrist of the past five years.
"Julie," he began as he peered over his reading glasses. "You are well aware that it is unwise to
withhold information from me. How am I to help you if you don’t trust me enough to confide in
me?"
He set his pad aside, and then folded his hands in his lap. He was attempting his silent chiding
technique. In as much as he had studied me to learn my patterns, I was also a diligent student.
This would only last three to five minutes, and then he would sigh and glance at the clock to
evaluate how much time remained in our session, which would leave a whopping three minutes. I
had timed my delivery perfectly; just enough time remained for him to write my prescriptions,
but not enough time remained to delve into the issue. I kept my face blank of any expression as I
watched him complete his ritual and tear off my prescription from his pad.
"All right, here are your prescriptions; it’s the usual two hundred milligrams of Zoloft, ten
milligrams of Ambien, but I’m upping your dosage of Klonopin to one milligram. You should see
a marked difference in your anxiety. I reached out to take the scripts from him when he pulled
them back. "Julie, you and I have made a lot of progress these past few years. You mustn’t allow
your insecurities to set us back a bit; you know can trust me."
"I do trust you, Dr. Weismann, and I will discuss this with you when I am ready. I need a little
time to process the dreams before I can talk about them. They’re… well, different than they used
to be."
His eyebrows shot up. "Different how?" I could tell he wanted to have this discussion now, but
luckily, time would not allow us to continue.
I sighed, "I… I don’t know, they just are. Can I have my scripts now, I need to pick up the kids
and get to the pharmacy, then the grocery store. I have a million things to do when I get home," I
pleaded with him to let this go.
He pressed the prescriptions into my open hand. "If you get shaky or have an extreme episode
like you did last month, you take two Klonopin and have Bill call me. This is nothing to play
around with, understand?"
I nodded and he opened the door. Thank the Lord God Almighty, I was out of there.
"You are not dreaming, Julie, and I am real. You know who I am; focus on my eyes and
remember." He caressed my cheek with one finger and I shivered as all my senses came alive.
His scent surrounded me as glimpses of the past filled his eyes.
We were smiling, happily walking hand in hand through a field at night. The scene changed and
we were in his bed, I could feel the satin sheets against my bare skin as I rolled on top of him,
mounting him, digging my nails into his chest, his head falling back, lips parting in ecstasy. His
arm snaked up around my neck, pulling me down to him, taking my mouth in a passionate kiss.
Our tongues intertwining wildly as I licked his left fang, then his right, filling his mouth with my
blood. A blood kiss always drove him insane with lust. He flipped me over and thrust into me in
an animalistic way. I was just as wild as he was. I barely recognized myself. The scene changed,
I was sitting in a recliner and he was kneeling at my feet, kissing the swell of my pregnant belly.
Upon that final memory, I fainted.

Author Interview with Indy Book Fairy-K.A. Young

When did you know you wanted to be a writer? I wanted to be a writer for
as long as I can remember. In elementary I used to come up with different
pen names that I might use one day. lol My current pen name never made it on that list.

Do you have a process? I’m not really an outline writer, I enjoy going in
whatever direction the characters take me on. What is always consistent
in my writing process is there is always music playing in the background.
Who or What is your inspiration? People inspire me. Everywhere I go, I
see something that makes me go hmm, that could be a good story.
What will you be working on next? The Elise Michaels Series will be my
sole focus for the next few months unless inspiration takes me on a different journey.

What's your favorite genre to write? Paranormal is my favorite at present.
Favorite paranormal read? That’s a hard one, but I’d have to say the Charley Davidson Series.

Favorite Author? I’m going to go with Darynda Jones because I love her writing style.

Person you would like to meet most in this world?
If you could be any character from one of your books who would it be?
Definitely Elise, she’s fun, energetic and total blast to hang out with.

My Review

Blood Kiss (Nephilim Warrior, #3)Blood Kiss by K.A. Young
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

***** I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review *****

O.M.G. I am in love with this series, I have read the last two books and I love it but this one just made it a little harder to choose witch one I love more.

I love the characters and how this story tell you more of the supernatural. it will show u a little more about the werewolf's and it would tell you a lot more about the vampire race and where they come from. and I love it how there is some twist and a part where it took me by surprise and I totally love it.

on the first and second book we met Julie, Anna sister, and we met Torch, Eli best friend, this book is focused on Julie and Torch.

the story begging with Julie, now Julie is trying to manage her life the best way she could, by waking up everyday and take care of her twins also having a little help from her medicine.at the same time she is trying to stay in control when it comes to deal with her husband, she begging to struggle with her own urges that she is having but she wont admitted aloud that's she is craving blood, she gets a visit from and old friend that end up revealing to her what she really is, that's when she decide to take control of her life again.

after she find out what she really is and get a visit from her sister Anna, her urges become more notice, that's when Torch show up oh my torch he is just TALL DARK AND HANDSOME and Julie can not denied the attraction that she is feeling for him witch is the same feeling that Torch has for her.

I love seen this two together, love it how Torch care so much for Julie but he is so don't want to go there but can not denied that he will protect her anyway he can. and all Julie is thinking about is her feelings for Torch and how she cares for him, while I was reading I kept telling my self how is it that Torch know so much about vampires and where they come from, that's when it click he is half vampire and I love it when theirs a part of the book that Julie ask him you have fangs and all Torch do is smile at her and say you just notice that.

I really enjoy reading this book, and cant wait to read more of this series.

I said twice I am saying it for the third time thank you Author K.A. Young for introducing me to this amazing characters, and this awesome book I love reading them.
