everyone she knows and loves to a strange city.

to the ER after twenty-one-year-old Alejandro, the hottest guy she’s ever met,
saves her during a bar fight on the USCLA campus.
The

plan. But healing doesn’t always come the way you think you need it.
Sophie’s
healing is six-foot-two-inches tall, has stunning hazel eyes, black, shiny hair
and a rock solid chest that shelters her. Her healing is Alejandro.

EXCERPT #1
“Goodnight, Bonita.”
“Goodnight, Ralph.” I smiled and
walked to my apartment’s door and put the right key in the lock.
“Wait! Who’s Ralph?”
I turned and regarded him. He looked
confused. Gorgeous, delicious, but confused. I was so
good at messing with Alpha boys. “Oh, gosh. I’m just an innocent
Cheesehead.” I shrugged my shoulders, batted my eyes and pretended to swoon.
“What do I know?”
“Apparently more than I gave you
credit for,” he said.
“About time.” I opened the door to
my place and stepped inside. “Thanks for—”
“What do I get when I figure it
out?” He stared at me. “I mean—when I figure out the Ralph reference I should
at least win a prize or something for my efforts.”
“You’re never going to figure it
out.”
“Don’t underestimate me.”
“What kind of prize do you want?” I
asked.
“I want to kiss you,” he said.
A shiver zipped up and down my
spine. I thought about it for a moment. Realized he’d never find the right
answer. He’d also lose all interest in me the more he drove me. He thought I
was exotic. I knew I was boring. So my reply was easy.
“Yes, Alejandro,” I said. “Yes, you
can kiss me if you figure it out.” I shut my door, leaned back against it and
smiled.
Sophie: Two.
Alejandro: Zero.
But who was counting?

Harrison
Quickly realizing, this is not the time or
the place for this encounter I respond.
“Tiffany now is not a good time.”
At the mere mention of her name, Sophia
pulls away from me. Tiffany looks
distraught, eyes puffy, her blonde hair pulled into a messy bun on top of her
head. She’s in yoga pants and a tank
top. Clearly she didn’t know she was
coming to a wedding. My sister hasn’t
gotten into the limo yet. Seconds tick
by feeling like hours. Why is Tiffany
here now?
Tiffany looks over to Maggie, the occasion
dawning on her face. “I’m so very sorry
to intrude. I just need a moment to
speak with Harrison. I didn’t realize
what was going on when I was told I could find him here. Congratulations Maggie, you look stunning. Again, I’m sorry. I’ll be leaving now.”
Turning to face me, tears now evident in
her eyes, she says, “Harrison, please call me tomorrow. It’s important. I’m leaving to go return to South Carolina
late afternoon.”
Anger builds in me at the loss of Sophia at
my side. How dare Tiffany come back
now! Without thinking, I snap.
“Now is not the time, Tiffany. To be quite honest, never would be too
soon. I have nothing to say to you.”
Without a word or reaction, Tiffany turns
and leaves. The tension in the air
quickly leaves as Brayden kisses my sister passionately. Reminding us all of
the occasion for which we are here.
The newlyweds get in their limo driving
away to the clanging of cans hanging off the car and the cheers of family and
friends. Knowing some damage has already
been done, I go in search of Sophia.
Things aren’t defined between us; this isn’t jealousy, I don’t
think. She knows how much Tiffany messed
me up before.

COVER REVEAL FOR JUST ONCE
COVER REVEAL
Kate Burke is done making bad decisions. Thirty years old and belatedly determined to grow up, the successful travel writer and one-time party girl returns to work at the remote Ponderosa Pines Ranch to reassess her life.
Although her kitchen/cabin staff is lacking and the workload never relents, Kate’s main challenge is Shane Maddox, the ruggedly handsome and doggedly stubborn ranch foreman. Instantly at odds, they battle over everything from ceiling fans to bothersome bats—studiously ignoring the sparks they generate with each confrontation.
They can’t explain their explosive physical chemistry, but after a few frustrated weeks they can’t deny it either. Their solution? Just once. They’ll get past their inconvenient lust and move on.
Kate’s been trying to think with her head instead of her hormones, but is this just another bad decision in a lifetime of careless choices? Has she really changed at all?
Set in the striking and serene hills of southern Colorado, Julianna Keyes’ debut novel offers a sizzling and satisfying tale of unexpected chemistry and the power of second chances. Her characters will get under your skin and into your heart. Just once may not be enough for you either.
About the Author Julianna Keyes is a Canadian writer who has lived on both coasts and several places in between. She’s been skydiving, bungee jumping, and white water rafting, but nothing thrills—or terrifies—her as much as the blank page. She has volunteered in Zambia, taught English in China, and dreams of seeing pink dolphins in the Amazon. This is her first book. Website | Twitter

Excerpt #3
Chapter 26
Brayden
While
Maggie’s parents are here, I need to talk to her dad. The ring I recently purchased is never far
from my mind. I want to get this right,
make all her dreams come true.
I
finally get a moment alone with him at Ryder’s house. I pull out the ring as I begin our talk.
“Mr.
Lawson, you know how much and how long I have been in love with your
daughter. I know I have made some
mistakes. I have learned from them and
through it all my love for Maggie has grown even stronger. She is my better half, truly and I want to
make her my wife. Do I have your
blessing in asking your daughter to marry me?”
He
doesn’t say anything for the longest time.
This makes me very uncomfortable, so I begin to ramble.
“Mr.
Lawson, I know I am not worthy to even have Maggie as a friend, much less anything
more after what I have done. I never
deserved someone as precious and loving as Maggie in the first place. The thing is, sir, you told me when the time
came I would know whether to follow my heart or my head. Well, I am following both. My heart loves that woman with every breath
inside of me. My head knows she is good
for me, keeps me focused on doing right.
So sir, I am not only asking, I am begging you to give this your
blessing.”
I know
I sound like a complete pussy begging this man for permission to propose, but
damn it I know Maggie will ask me if I got her dad’s blessing. If they don’t support the engagement Maggie
will walk away from me for good and I know it.
Harold
smiles at me, “Son, yes I know you love my daughter. We have all made mistakes you need to let go
of that. You are a good man, deep inside
you there are issues you have to face daily.
You fight those battles just to be with my princess. You have always wanted to take care of
her. I think you have worked really hard
to straighten out your mess, Brayden.
And Son, yes you have my blessing to marry my one and only daughter.”
