excerpts

With my thoughts running amok, my cheeks began to feel warm, betraying me. The heat
spread from one side to the other quickly, giving my face a nice rosy glow.
He chuckled and I almost came apart. Did this man have any idea what that one small
sound did to a girl? I bet he did, he had to, given his current shit-eating  grin. There was no way that he couldn’t know. Guys like him knew they were walking fuck-me advertisements.

“Careful. It’s a little too soon to fall for me.” He smiled, dimples and all, and I nearly
lost it again. Dimples! I was in serious trouble already and I hadn’t been out
of the loony bin for an hour yet. ''Not  likely,” I replied. I righted myself and leaned back casually. “Are you planning on being here long?”

He quickly scanned my face, and then returned his focus to the book in his hands.
“Not sure. Ask me again in an hour.”

Argh! Infuriating and sexy as hell? Great combo. My head told me to walk away, but my
traitorous body was trying to convince me to inch closer to him. With a quick
scoot, I was mere inches from him, our legs nearly touching.

“Whatcha  reading?” I tried to get a look at the book, but he closed it before I could
figure out what it was.

“Homer.”

 “Simpson?”

A slow grin spread across his face. “As in The Odyssey. Greek epic poem…ring any
bells?”  “No. The only Homer I know is married to a woman with a giant blue beehive.”

With a shake of his head, he opened his book once again. “Sheltered?”
His attitude was really starting to piss me off. “No. Unless you consider ten years
in the wacky shack as sheltered.” I had expected my words to have some sort of
impact. Nothing. He didn’t even flinch.

Dream Cast / Characters Bio

For Delia, I’d say Nina Dobrev, just because she has such and attitude and can pull it off. I didn’t think that before the “bad” Elena on TVD, but now...yeah, she could handle it, lol.

Delia:
20 years old
Born in Sunny Shores, SC
Has been locked away in Sunny Shores Psychiatric Hospital for 10 years.
Extremely saucy- her sharp tongue and quick wit have gotten her
into trouble more times than she can count.

Likes: the ocean, sleeping late, chocolate milkshakes, and dipping
her fries in a Wendy’s Frosty.

Dislikes: Creepy old dudes, pop music, salads (they’re the devil),
and people who lie.

Favorite quote: “I wonder why it is, that young men are always cautioned against bad girls. Anyone
can handle a bad girl. It's the good girls men should be warned against.” - David Niven

Favorite Song: P!nk’s U + Ur Hand

For Liam...hmmm...that might be a little tougher. I’d have to say Steven Strait. He’s soooo gorgeous! I would literally gobble him up! LOL

Liam:

24 years old
Born in Georgia, currently resides in Sunny Shores, SC
Has a deep love for Homer’s The Odyssey and The Iliad. Not Homer Simpson.
Recently found himself in a sticky situation involving murder, lies, and plenty of betrayal.

Likes: Reading, walking the beach at night, anything with Al Pacino, a good pizza
filled with toppings, newfound love for The Simpsons, and his *special* coffee cup.

Dislikes: Being cooped up in the house, fighting, McDonald’s double cheeseburgers, and
doing laundry...unless Delia was there.

Favorite Quote: “Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start.” - Nido Qubein

Favorite Song: My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark- Fall Out Boy

For Mike, there’s only one choice, lol. Samuel Larsen and those dreads...I mean.. WOW!  I’ve seen a lot of guys with dreads, but he would be perfect.

Mike:

28 years old
Family is from Sunny Shores, but he spent most of his youth in Southern California.
Is proud of his surf shack, even if he barely makes it by. He hopes to one day be
able to teach the next National Surfing Champion.

Likes: The smell of suntan lotion, motorcycles, Adam Lambert’s music, and playing
detective (even better if he gets to wear the trench coat!)

Dislikes: Scam artists, video games (what a waste of energy!), fast food, cheap shoppers,
and winter (no surfing!)

Favorite Quote: “Believe you can and you’re halfway there.” - Theodore Roosevelt

Favorite Song: Adam Lambert’s Strut
For the minor characters, it would be a toss up. Probably want unknown actors, just to even it out.

As You Wish Review

My Guest Post Topic - How to make your characters believable

So you want to make your characters believable? Okay, let’s talk about it.

First,
when you are “designing” your character, can you see them in your mind? Do you
know what they look like, from the freckles on their noses to the point of their
chins? If not, that’s where we need to start. Characters need to be as real to
you as say, your spouse or your best friend. They should be living, breathing
entities in your mind. Every minute detail, from their appearance to their
personality, should be chosen and mapped. There is no such thing as an unneeded
detail. Even if you never mention certain attributes in your story, YOU, the
author, should still know it about your characters.

Second,
be careful when basing your characters on those you know in real life. We all do
it, at least once or twice in our lives, but be careful! What happens if you
kill off a character that was based on your best friend? He/she might
get a little offended at that. Taking certain personality traits from them and
incorporating them into your characters is okay. Just don’t tell the people you
snitched them from. Just easier that way.

Third,
have conversations with your characters. Yes, I know, this sounds pretty
schizophrenic, but trust me! What better way to really get to know them than to
sit down and ask them about their day? This allows you to get in tune with the
way their minds work, as well as learning to channel them with your own words.
To be on the safe side, try this when you’re alone. Wouldn’t want ya’ll getting
 locked away, now would we?

And
lastly, don’t be afraid to make them flawed. There are no perfect people in this
world, so why would there be in your story? How boring would life be if everyone
around us always said the right thing, wore the right clothes, or never did
anything wrong? It would be completely boring, right? Spice them up. Make them
snore! Really, just have fun with them. Do you love tattooed bad boys but could
never date one in real life? Well, here’s your chance to further romanticize
those sexy guys and fall in author-love with them! It’s about whatever you want
to do. Just remember, keep them real. Perfect doesn’t exist in the real world,
so how can it exist in the book world?

That’s all from me! Now please, keep in mind, these are just MY
personal opinions on making characters believable. My word is not gospel, it is
simply what has worked for me in the past. I hope they are helpful for you!

My Review  5 Stars

Burn OutBurn Out by Ruthi Kight
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

*** I receive an ARC copy of this book for an honest review ***

I'm so glad that I got to read this book it was amazing and I end up loving it.
This book was refreshing, I did not know what to expect when I started reading it. At first I kept asking myself what am I reading, because I couldn’t put the book down I read it in one day. I love the characters and how everything play out in this story. Love it how this story make you think that the characters are going a little crazy, when is totally the other way around.
I love the character of Delia, ten years ago she when through a horrible experience that cost her to hide, now Delia have to go back to the world that she did not know anymore, and now she have to figure out how to live in the town that no one wants to know nothing about her, and are afraid of her, her family is gone, so she is all by herself in the world. I love her attitude, love it how she doesn’t give a rat ass about what the people in town think of her. Love it how she held her head up high after her being through so much, and how she is trying to put her life back on tracks.
Love the character of Liam now what can I say about him, Liam has heard the story heard the rumors and know that he should stay away. but he doesn’t I love how he start to care for Delia, and how he wants to be there for her no matter what anybody say, he also has his own deamonds that he needs to deal with. I love his attitude and the way he always trying to seduce Delia and how charming he is.
Can’t say more because I don’t want spoil the book. But I love how this story has its mystery and how every time I though I had the book figure out, it just through me a curve ball and it twist everything around. I love a book that has its twist I really enjoy this book and I recommend that you get to read it and love it as much as I did.
I want to thank Author Ruthi Kight for introducing me to this great story and this awesome characters can’t wait to read more of her books.
