Tour 'Fire & Ice' by Lacey Weatherford

Title- Fire & Ice

Series- Book Of Shadows Book # 1

By- Lacey Weatherford

Publication Date- September 8, 2013

Time passes . . . sometimes too quickly, other times not fast enough, but that’s not what’s important. The essential thing is what we learn about ourselves during that passage of time and how we apply it. Will we continue to follow the destructive paths we find ourselves on? Will we give in to circumstances that seem completely unchangeable? Or will we desperately fight to hold onto those we love and to what’s good inside us—no matter how terrible the cost? I only know I would do whatever was required of me to keep Portia, but in a world of witches, warlocks, and demons, anything can happen.

My name is Vance Mangum, and this is my story.

“Working on the bike today, I see.” Marsha smiled at me, drying her hands on a dishtowel as she leaned against the doorframe leading from the kitchen into the garage.

“Yeah,” I replied as I attempted to crank a bolt on the engine tighter. “It would be nice if this stupid piece would cooperate with me, though.” My hand slipped off the wrench and my finger slid against a piece of sharp metal. I felt the tear in my skin before I saw the blood. “Damn it!” I grumbled, grabbing the oily rag next to me and holding it against the wound.

Marsha started laughing and I glanced at her with a questioning stare. “Why don’t you use your magic? It would be much easier on you from the looks of it.”

“For the same reason you’re washing the dishes by hand,” I replied, nodding toward her dishtowel. “I don’t want to die of boredom. Besides, I like staying busy working. You know that.”

She nodded. “I do. I simply find it funny you don’t use magic to help yourself when things are tough. ”Shrugging, I stared back at the bike. “It’s a vendetta now. Using magic is like saying I let the bike beat me. It’s not going to win.”

Marsha continued chuckling, shaking her head. “You and your competitive nature. You’d rather be hurt than give in. It’s a shame you can’t do sports. It’d probably help you release some of this pent up aggression you’re always carrying around.”

“Blowing up something usually helps take care of things like that.”

“And what exactly have you been blowing up?” She suddenly seemed concerned.

I sighed. “Don’t worry. Only some old dead trees out in the middle of nowhere. And before you start the lecture about forest fires; yes, I make sure nothing catches on fire.”

She eyed me for a moment, as if trying to decide whether or not to trust me. “Fine. Just be careful. Are you planning on working on this motorcycle all day?”

“For the most part. I told Bruce I’d try to have it done for him by the end of the month.”“He was so excited when he found out how good you are with bikes. I think he’s wanted it to be rebuilt for quite a while. Every time I’ve seen him, he asks me about it. That’s all he ever talks to me about.” I grinned. “I know. I can’t believe he had this clunker sitting in his garage for so many years. I have a cool idea for it, but I’ll need to get some help.”

“Really? What?”

“See this area around the wheels?” I pointed to where the spokes came together. “I was thinking it would be cool to have some custom made metal flames here that would match the flames on the gas tank. It would tie the design together nicely, don’t you think?”

She smiled. “You have such a great eye for detail, and yes, I agree. I think Bruce would love it. Where would you find something like that?”

“I want to go to Laramie Jackson’s knife shop and see if he can help me design something unique for it.” I stood and went to my workbench to deposit my tools, before washing my hands at the basin sink.

“That’s a fabulous idea! I know you love the athame he custom made for you.” “Shh . . .” I teased. “He doesn’t know it’s an athame—it’s only an awesome knife as far as he’s concerned. You’re gonna get me in trouble.”

She rolled her eyes. “Whatever. I’m sure he’s happy to help you. You’ve had him outfit half the coven with knives now.”

“The best for the best.” I winked at her. “Do you need me to get anything for you while I’m out?” “Not that I can think of right now. I’ll text you if anything comes to mind. Are you going to see Portia too?”

She caught me totally off guard and I snapped my head over to look at her, squinting and wondering if she was hinting at something else.

“Why would I go see her?” I hadn’t told anyone—not even her—about my interest in Portia. I didn’t want anyone to think it was wrong or tell me I couldn’t be with her. Until I discovered more information about what was happening between us, I intended to keep it to myself.

Apparently, I sounded slightly too aggressive in my response. “Easy there, killer.” She held up a hand in surrender. “I noticed you seemed to have a connection with her is all. I know you don’t like to allow yourself to make friends, but she’s different. She’s a witch, and she’s part of your coven. That means you won’t have to keep any secrets from her. There hasn’t been anyone like that in your life before—at least not your age anyway. I worry about you being alone all the time.”

I sighed, walking to my bike. “No, I didn’t have any plans to go see her today,” I replied as I straddled the bike, secretly wishing Portia needed me for some reason.

“Well, can I intrude and ask if you like her?”

Glancing over, I saw a soft look in her eyes. Was she trying to play matchmaker all of a sudden? I wasn’t sure how I felt about that.

“Of course I like her. I like everyone,” I replied vaguely, slipping my key into the ignition.“You know what I mean. Would you ever be interested in dating her?” I chuckled. “You really think Sean would go for that?” She shrugged. “I don’t see why not. You’re a good kid. He knows that.”

“We may be close in school, but you can’t forget, I’m eighteen and she’s sixteen. I think Sean would sooner slap a restraining order on me than let me date his only child.”

“I don’t see why your age matters one bit; unless you’re planning on doing something that would make you being a legal adult and her a minor a problem. Is there something I should know?” She stared pointedly at me.

I laughed loudly. “Pipe down, Mom.  I’ve  been nothing but the perfect gentleman.”Her gaze wandered over me. “I mean, I understand you’re a man now, and men have urg—” “Stop right there, Marsha. This conversation is finished.” I started the bike, gassing the throttle and the garage echoed with the sound.

She cupped her hands and shouted above the noise. “I only wanted to know if you want to date her!” “What?” I hollered back with a grin, revving the engine again, pretending I  couldn’t   hear her. “Do you want to date her?” She waved her hands at the exhaust fumes filling the air.

Pointing to my ear, I shook my head. “I’ll talk to you when I get home.” I slipped my helmet on and took off out the open garage door. Tossing a quick glance in her direction as I turned onto the street, I started laughing when she threw her hands up in a frustrated gesture and went inside.

About the Author

Lacey Weatherford was born in Ft. Meade Maryland while her father was serving in the military. She has been a life long resident of Arizona, spending most of her time growing up in the small rural town of Clay Springs.

It was while she was attending the small country school in Clay Springs, that she read her first "big" book at the age of eight. It was a Nancy Drew novel and Lacey was instantly hooked. She read every book that she could find in the series and decided that she wanted to write stories too.
Lacey spent a lot of time at the library from that time forward, even volunteering in her later teen years and early twenties. She would don a crazy clown outfit for the Friends of the Library fundraisers in an effort to help get the new town library built.

When she and her husband moved away from the area, Lacey took the opportunity to take some creative writing classes at the local college to help further along her interests. Several years later, they were blessed with the opportunity to move back to Clay Springs with their family. The town had finally succeeded in building their library and Lacey had the opportunity to be President of the Friends of the Library for a very short time, before relocating.

Lacey and her family still live in the White Mountains of Arizona, where she continues to write young adult novels that have a fantasy/fairytale or paranormal bent to them, as well as being sure to include a great romantic storyline!

Underground fighter Remington Tate is a mystery, even to himself. His mind is dark and light, complex and enlightening. At times his actions and moods are carefully measured, and at others, they spin out of control.

Through it all, there's been one constant: wanting, needing, loving, and protecting Brooke Dumas. This is his story; from the first moment he laid eyes on her and knew, without a doubt, she would be the realest thing he's ever had to fight for.

The Seattle crowd is wild tonight. Backstage, the noise reverberates between the walls, bounces off the metal lockers in the room where I prepare with some of the other fighters. I watch Coach bandage the fingers of one hand, and all I can think of is how Brooke Dumas is out there among the spectators, sitting in one of the seats I bought for her.
I’m so jacked up I feel like I’m plugged into a fucking electrical outlet. Blood pumps heady through my veins. My muscles are loose and warm and ready to contract and strike anything in my path. I’m ready to put on a fucking show and there’s one girl, one lovely girl, that’s got me tied up in knots, that I want to see me fight.

I hand Coach my other hand and stare at my bare knuckles as he shoots off the same instructions he always says.

My guard . . . patience . . . balance . . .

I zone out, letting his words slip through me and into my subconscious, where they belong. Right before a fight, I find a calm. I can hear all the noise but listen to nothing. A clarity comes with fighting. Every detail sharpening in your mind.

This sharpness and awareness makes me lift my head to the doorway. She stands there like out of some childhood dream, looking at nobody but me.

She wears a pair of white jeans and a pink top that makes her skin look even tanner than it is and so damn lickable my tongue hurts inside my mouth. Neither of us so much as twitches as we stare.
Hammer steps into my peripherals, and when I see him head straight for her, my anger ignites.
With deadly calm, I grab the tape from Coach and throw it aside as I stalk over to her. Then, I position myself directly behind her and to her right, taking my spot in a way that lets the dipshit Hammer know I was born to be here. Beside, behind, and by her.
“Just walk off,” I warn him, my voice low but lethal.
He doesn’t seem inclined to listen, instead narrows his eyes in contest. “She yours?” he asks with narrowed eyes.
Nodding, I narrow my eyes and let my gaze burn into him. “I can guarantee you, she’s not yours.”
The asshole leaves, and I notice Brooke doesn’t move for a long second, as if she doesn’t want to step away from me in the same way I don’t want her to go anywhere. Holy god, she smells good.
I drag her scent to my lungs like a junkie, and suddenly every inch of my body wants to cup her hips and draw her into me so I can scent her more. She turns her head to mine and softly murmurs, “Thank you,” but quickly leaves. I duck my head and haul in as much as I can before she walks away.
I remain standing there, feeling dizzy, my shorts ridiculously tented.
“Riptide! Hammer! You’re up next!”
Exhaling as I hear my name, I glance narrowly at Hammer across the room, who seems amused as fuck that I am clearly in deep shit with this girl.
He’s in even deeper shit with me.
“Remington . . . are you listening to me?”
I whip around to Coach, who’s fixing that last bandage he couldn’t secure. I keep glaring at Hammer as Riley extends my satin robe, and as I ram my arms into the sleeves, I decide Hammer better be prepared to vacation in a coma for a while.
“I said don’t let that bastard get to your head.” Coach knocks his knuckles to my temples. “And that girl neither.”
“That girl’s been in his head since the first fight here,” Riley tells him with a smirk. “Hell, he wants to carry that girl around with him like an accessory on tour. Pete is drafting the contract as we speak.”
Coach pokes a finger into my chest and I feel it almost bending. “I don’t give a shit what you’re planning to do tonight with the girl. You keep your head in the fight going on right now. You got that?”
I don’t answer, but obviously I get it. I don’t need to be told these things. Half a fight is in your head. But Coach likes feeling useful, so I just roll with it and trot out. I’ve fought all my life to stay sane. To keep focused, driven, and centered. But tonight, I fight to show one woman my worth.

“What gives you a thrill Kristen?”The conclusion to the Surrender Series by Priscilla West.

No one is who they seem to be.

Kristen let Vincent into her heart because he seemed so different from everyone in her conservative world of wealth management. She thought they shared something special, but when she realizes that Vincent has been playing her the entire time, her heart is crushed.

As Kristen’s relationship with Vincent reaches a crisis point, a man from Kristen’s past returns looking for a second chance. Is her ex-boyfriend really looking for redemption or is his goal something more sinister?

Kristen struggles to hold herself together, until she discovers a revelation that will change everything.

The minute I saw Vincent Sorenson, I knew he was trouble. Billionaire. Bad boy. And dangerously sexy. He was everything I craved, and nothing I needed.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t just avoid him. The higher ups at my company decided they needed his business, and I was on the team to bring him in. Vincent Sorenson didn’t seem as interested in business as he was in me, but I knew that was a door better left unopened. If I got involved with him, it would only unearth the pain I spent years trying to bury.

I thought I had it under control, but I seriously underestimated Vincent’s seductive charm and silver-tongue. I would soon find out how delicious it would feel to let myself fall into this forbidden

I knew that giving in to Vincent Sorenson was a risk, but it was one I was willing to take. I had hidden my heart for so long and for the first time in a long time, Vincent was close to breaking down the walls.

When a trip to Vincent’s exclusive private island reveals the real Vincent underneath the layers of suave nonchalance, I thought we were close to the start of something special.

Just when things were looking up for us, I would discover the one secret that Vincent never intended for me to find

Book Blitz for Star of Bethlehem

Title: Star of Bethlehem (Flowering holiday novella)

Author: Sarah Daltry

Release Date: 11/18/2013

Publisher: SDE Press
Jack isn’t a rock star. He’s not the leader of a MC. He isn’t a billionaire. Lily’s not the daughter of a mob boss, or a stripper, or a virgin with a BDSM fascination. They’re just regular college kids, who somehow found each other in
the middle of all the crap and chaos of growing up.

“With you, Jack, it was the first time I ever felt real. It was the first time anyone looked at me and saw substance. It was the first time I wanted to make someone see me.”
Jack and Lily have navigated his past, her desire to move on from her family’s demands of her, his depression, and her loneliness. Now, on New Year’s Eve, they have an entire year laid out ahead of them. First, though, Jack needs to meet
Lily’s family, to be welcomed into her life. It’s intimidating, but with a sweater that is way too hot and his grandmother’s ugly car, he arrives at Lily’s gleaming house on a hill, ready to open himself up completely to her.

Inside the perfect, sparkling house, Lily waits for the boy she has come to love. But Lily’s house and family are a lot like her – shiny and pretty on the outside, with a sad emptiness on the interior. Lily wants to give Jack the one thing he
has always dreamed of – family and love – but can she keep him from seeing how hollow a lot of the picture perfect life he fantasizes about really is?

This is a novella length work that follows Forget Me Not and Lily of the Valley.

I take his hand and pull him down beside me on my bed. I feel so complete in his arms, as if nothing can go wrong when he holds me. It’s all the other stuff. The world, people, pressure. Maybe it’s a little fear that things just ended with Derek. That one day, as quickly as I fell for Jack, I also fell out of love with Derek. I don’t have enough experience to know if that’s normal. What if it happens again?  “What? Tell  me,” Jack whispers.

“Have you ever felt like your entire life is some surrealist’s joke? That you think you’re in control of it, while really, you’re probably just…” “A melting clock?” he finishes and laughs. I look at him, disappointed that I can’t explain it, but also relieved that he doesn’t care

“All the fucking time,” he says. “I know you’re scared. I know I’m scared. But I seem to remember you telling me that I should remember what matters. I made you a promise, princess. Yes, your house intimidates me. Your life intimidates me. Hell, loving you intimidates me. But I’m in this. I’m here. Present. Entirely. I’m looking only forward. And all I see is you.”

“Take the damn book,” I tell him. “I just wanted to show you that I have faith in us. It was a conscious decision to give you something that was a very special gift to me, to tell you that I trust you with it, because I trust you to be there. Long  term.”

He takes me in his arms and kisses me. I decide I won’t stop him if he goes further,  but he doesn’t. Our bodies crackle with the energy between us, but as much as the sex thrills me, Jack does so much more for my mind than his body could even do. I can’t believe how alive I feel when he’s near me. Perhaps it’s selfish. Perhaps it’s desperate. But I want him here in my life; I want him with me, because I love being this aware.

I speak against his cheek, while his hands slowly explore my body. It’s sensual but not sexual. He’s studying me like a work of art. “I don’t want to fall out of love with you. I thought Derek was all I ever wanted. I don’t want to be in the same place with you a year from now.” “You won’t be,” he tells me.

“How do you know?” He kisses along my face, brushing his lips against my cheek, my forehead, my nose, but never reaching my mouth. “I don’t know how. But I do.”

I love that he can put aside his doubts to ease my own. I know Jack’s had so much trouble in his life, and the fact that he can comfort me, when my problems are so petty and stupid in the scheme of things, is one more thing I love so much. “I know I’m shallow. But I don’t want to be, Jack.”

“You’re not  shallow. You’re not empty. Anything you think of yourself – it’s crazy. If you want to talk about surreal, it’s the fact that you think you’re less than something. Maybe you didn’t get shit on the same way I did in high school, but clearly, people have underestimated you. They missed out on you. And you have every right to be hurt. But, Lily? No one will ever hurt you again.”

I smile. “Thanks. I’m sorry I’m being so moody. It’s probably hormones or something. I think I’m just frustrated.”

“Yeah?” He laughs. “Well… I mean… I can help you relieve some of that.” He’s on top of me and I don’t care that it wasn’t exactly what I meant. I don’t care that someone could walk in. Someone probably will walk in, since eventually they’ll come looking, but I don’t care at all. I want to belong to Jack, and I don’t know any other way to do so.

***** I received a copy of this book as a gift by the author *****

I felt so in love with this book that is not even funny, I love the way Sarah Daltry writes, and cant wait to keep reading more of her books, I love the characters and love how this story turned out to be and its not what I was expecting I really enjoy and felt in love with this story.I am gone keep this short since I don't want to give anything away.

This story takes off where the other two stories Forget Me Not and Lily of the Valley left off. the story take place in one day and let me just say that a lot of things happened in one day, specially when is Jack the one meeting Lily family, and let me just say it's not a small family Lily have a big family lets just put it like this everyone that show up are aunts, uncles, cousins and one unexpected guess, and just it left me speechless.

I really love and enjoy this book and I hope that once you read it that you get to enjoy it and love it as much as I did.

Author Sarah Daltry THANK YOU for this amazing characters and this awesome book.
